Mom's Pie Crust

1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup shortening
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups flour
1/2 cup +1 tablespoon ice water.  It needs to have ice cubes in it and be frosty cold!

Mix all dry ingredients with pastry cuter until it is lumpy.  It helps to have butter soft but not melted!  Add in water until it forms a soft dough.  If it is too dry, it will be hard to work with.  This should make enough dough for 3 single crusts or 1 double crust pie and 1 single.  Roll on to floured counter and don't handle too much. :)
