1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs separated
1 cup milk
2 cups flour
2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in egg yolks and beat. Add flour and milk alternately, mixing after each addition. Stir in melted chocolate, vanilla, and nuts. Finally, whip egg whites until they form soft peaks. Then fold in the beaten egg whites carefully. Do not over mix. Bake in a 9x13" cake pan that is greased and floured. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Frost with favorite chocolate butter cream frosting and enjoy. This cake is even better the next day. And of course this is Mamoo's favorite chocolate cake. :)
